Star Spangled Banner

Bountiful High School A'Capella Choir

Day 3

7:00 AM Breakfast at hotel
Once again, we were the first ones down..

8:00 AM Take bus to the Hart Building
For those of you that don't know, the Hart Building is one of the senate office buildings. It's where Senator Hatch's office is. Well with permission from Senator Hatch we got to go sing in this building. Ironically, Senator Hatch was in Utah while we were in D.C. Go figure. But it was still fun and a lot of people gathered to hear us sing.

Singing at the Hart Building

11:00 AM Private tour of the capitol
Although we couldn't always hear the tour guide, it was still cool to see all of the different things. We went into a room of statues that has two statues from every state. One of our statues is no other than Brigham Young.
While waiting to go into our tour, Michaella Hamblin told us that her mom gave her a goal to do every day of the trip. Today's goal was to take a picture with a cute boy that you had never met. Well me and Tiffany decided to join her in this goal. We found Tiffany's boy on the way to the bathroom and creepily waited outside the men's room for him to come out. Unfortunately the picture was blurry, he was with someone so we didn't get his number, and he kinda mumbled his last name so we never could find him on facebook. Well after this endeavor we decided it was my turn. We saw a really cute guy standing with a few other guys and decided to go up and ask him. (Okay, it may have taken a little while to get the courage, but at least I went). Well this guy was a total D-Bag! He wouldn't stop asking questions, and when he finally agreed (grudgingly) to take the picture he wouldn't even smile! He was a jerk, but I got my picture.
D-Bag!!
Half (the better half) of our choir touring the capitol.

12:15 PM Lunch in the capitol cafeteria

1:00 PM Leave for Mt. Vernon
Mt. Vernon was definitely one of my absolute favorite places. It was SO pretty! Although my allergies kinda got to me, it was still pretty fabulous! We even got to see George Washington's grave. I just loved this place! Oh and definitely found another boy to take a picture with, and this one was WAY nicer and that made him so much more attractive. Ironically, we followed him to the bathroom.. That's where all the cute boys go apparently. I made Kev-Kev pretend he was going to the bathroom so we had an excuse to be waiting outside the men's room.
Sadly we didn't even get his name!
There were people like this all over Mt. Vernon, I just couldn't help myself.

2:45 PM Tour of the mansion
This was so cool! It still had all of the original furnishings in it. It's crazy to think that George Washington was sitting in the char I was looking at. It was so beautiful and would have been a pretty sweet place to live.
Waiting in line to go in the mansion
The backyard. So pretty!!

3:30 PM Sing at Mt. Vernon
It was so weird to see how many people would stop and listen to us, but surprisingly they did! This was one of our greatest performances (in my opinion) and it was really cool to be singing songs while looking up at George Washington's house!

4:15 PM Depart for the Verizon Center and NBA game
Me and Tiffany decided to start talking with a lisp, I don't think many people found it very amusing, but we sure did!

5:30 PM Meet your Wizards Representative
It was kind of intimidating. We went through a back door, walked past the locker rooms, walked past garages with the team busses in them. It was so.. different from just being in the stands.

5:45 PM Sound check on the court
After we sang for our sound check, our "Wizards Representative" (the guy who is in charge of finding people to sing the national anthem and such) told us we were the best choir he had ever heard sing there and that he wasn't just saying that, we truly stunned him. Score!

7:00 PM Performance of the Star Spangled Banner at Wizards vs Pacers
All of the basketball players were on the court while we were singing. Crazy that we were on the same court as NBA players! If you think they look tall on TV, stand next to them. They are giant!! This was such a fun game and I am so glad that we had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at an NBA game!
Sorry it's kinda blurry..
Me and Chandler were matching!

Three buddies enjoying the basketball game!

Me and Matt during half time

Remember 418?? We saw another section 418 and couldn't help it! We needed a picture!

10:30 PM Back at the hotel
Although every other night we went straight back into the room and feel asleep, tonight me, Tiffany, and Tyler were really hyper! I demonstrated how to get from one bed to another without jumping or touching the floor.. We also found playing cards hidden all over our room. To finish it off we watched a little Mean Girls.
