Oh Danny Boy

Bountiful High School A'Capella Choir

Day 2

7:00 AM Breakfast at the hotel
Every morning me, Tiffany, Emily, and Tyler would be the first ones down to breakfast. How we got ready that fast? I have no idea. It was nice though, we got first pick of everything and still had plenty of time to spare to go back and brush our teeth, relax and have first choice of seats on the bus.
8:00 AM Load on the bus
So when we got on the bus this morning, Tiffany tried to recline the seat and somewhat broke it. We could not get it to go back up for the longest time. We finally got it up and we were pretty happy about it, but we were far too scared to put it back down again. And we may or may not have made fun of Tiffany for it for the rest of the trip.

9:00 AM Tour of Arlington Cemetery
This was definitely one of my favorite parts about our trip to D.C. It was so pretty and amazing. We got to see the Changing of the Guard and it is something I will never forget. This was such and amazing experience and it made me appreciate our country and our soldiers so much more. I am so grateful for all that they have done for me and for all of us really. Our tour guide Sonny took us the Eternal Flame at the Kennedy Grave and even showed us where some mormons were buried. We saw some really cool things around the cemetery, including some monuments. There were a lot of people being buried that day and we got to see some of them, but we were the shots fired on all of them. It was really humbling.

10:00 AM Sing in the Memorial Amphitheater
So cool story, we were one of only two choirs/groups to perform in this Amphitheater in a year. We were so lucky. Well we happened to be their right before Easter, and since the President gives a speech in this Amphitheater every Easter, people weren't allowed in it. It was completely blocked off with guards circling around it. Well they let us go in to sing, and we were the only ones. And even though we didn't have an audience, it was one of the greatest experiences of the trip. People congregated at the small openings to try to get a glimpse of us. People were sticking their cameras around corners and pillars to try to record us, it was so cool. We also got to stand where the President stands to give his speech and sit in a giant throne type of thing.
Waiting for the guards to let us in the Amphitheater
These boys were very excited for the Red Sox game!

1:00 PM Bus ride to lunch at the Pentagon Mall
On our way to lunch we stopped for a little visit to a very big memorial.

2:15 PM Depart for the MLB Game

This kid was very excited for the game. He was jumping up and down..

3:05 PM Pre-seasom MLB Game between the Washington Nationals and the Boston Red Sox
Unfortunelately we didn't get to sing here because the army band was playing, but it was still so much fun! And I can now say I've been to a red sox game!
Jerseys and everything!

We couldn't resist! And that souvenier ice cream baseball hat came all the way home with us.

We took up a lot of space and the baseball game. Our section was the loudest cheering and we even converted some "brave" cheers to "sox" cheers.

Oh section 418. A couple from our school snuck up to section 418 to make out, little did they know they were in our perfect line of sight and we all saw them, laughed at them, and took pictures of them.

6:30 PM Bus ride to Old Town Alexandria

7:15 PM Dinner at King Street Blues and free time in Old Town Alexandria
I really like Old Town Alexandria. While most things were closed, the grocery store was still open. Me and Tiffany stocked up on some treats. We also saw the smallest house in America, which was REALLY small! But it also just sold for a few million.

10:00 PM Back at the hotel
We were all exhausted, so while all the other rooms partied, our room went to sleep.
